Cook or Buy: Cebuano Version

July 29th, 2009  |  Published in Wise Consumer's Corner

Go the English Version of this Post…

Asa man ang palabihon nimo? Ang kahasol? Ang mas gamay ug gasto? Kanus-a man mas maayo ang magluto? Kanus-a man pud mas maayo ang mopalit na lang ug lutong da-an?

Ipaambit na ang imong maayo nga huna-huna…

Cook or Buy

July 20th, 2009  |  Published in Wise Consumer's Corner

Go the Cebuano Version…

Frequently,  some of us have to choose between cooking the food we eat or buying ready-to-eat foods.  Some of the consumers who have to make this decision are those who are living in boarding houses, far away from their childhood abodes where they used to eat meals cooked by their parents. Even parents have to make this decision every now and then for their family. There are exceptions of course. More affluent families and individuals make decisions based mostly on taste preferences rather than on economics.  However, the majority of the population have to carefully consider also the economic effects of this decision in the context of other factors like time, effort and  taste…so, this topic is but worth discussing by a community of wise consumers. Cook or Buy? Let’s discuss from the perspective of the majority….

Buying Ready to Eat Foods:  less effort, time saved, sometimes a constraint in choices such as in school or company canteens. Obviously, less hassle, less effort and time savings are the primary advantages of buying ready to eat foods. This is also a preferred decision for people who do not know how to cook (like you? haha…). However, many times, we are constrained by the selection of foods in our canteens or nearby carenderias. Many times, we’d rather eat in the canteen what is available rather than starve. A lot of consumers also claim that this is more expensive compared to cooking your own meals. What do you think?

Cooking your own food: pride over one’s cooking masterpiece (for the rare few?…heheh), control over what you wish to eat, control over cooking style, more effort and time consuming. While cooking your own food to eat has its special advantages, one of the primary reasons why a lot of people prefer to buy ready to eat foods is the effort done in menu planning, shopping and food preparation.  Time must be alotted. However, some people claim that you can save more when you cook. Is this true for you?

What have or had you decided for yourself or your family? What were your basis? What do you value?  Time, Effort, Money? When do you think is it more fitting to cook rather than buy?

Cook or buy. Share your thoughts now….

Poll Automation for 2010

July 15th, 2009  |  Published in Wise Consumer's Corner

ENGLISH VERSION:

This is the first post about Politics and Government in the Wise Consumer’s Corner. Why do we have to discuss and share information about Politics and Government in CebuWiseConsumer?

To vote, pay our taxes and then be served by our government officials is just essentially “paying for a service”…public service. The salaries (and the wealth stolen via corruption? :-( ) of our government officials comes from our pockets. We pay them to serve us! We voted for them to serve us (..and give them the chance to waste our taxes?…). This is just the same case as paying for a new hairstyle, a massage, a doctor, and other services…we pay to avail of public service! (except the those who are not paying taxes, are paid instead of paying tax, and are very active in rallies and demonstrations with a cause they know nothing about).

To honestly pay taxes, to vote wisely during elections, to demand of the appropriate and expected honest public service from our government officials and to help influence others of these noble nationalistic duties is therefore also a mission of a “Wise Consumer”—- from Cebu, a CebuWiseConsumer.

Let’s talk politics now…

Are you in favor of Poll Automation for 2010? Why? Share your thoughts…

CEBUANO VERSION:

So, politika sa ta karon….

Ngano man? Ipaambit na dayon ang imong huna-huna…
